In addition to automated gates and vehicle barriers, we manufacture and/or supply and install a wide range of automated bollards, both hydraulic and electromechanical. In addition to standard rising bollards, we also offer our revolutionary sliding bollard, details of which can be found below.

Any of our automated bollards can be installed with the same access control as used with automated gates, such as entry/exit roadway loops, intercoms, keypads and handheld transmitters. Although Bollards can be installed at residential houses, it is predominantly commercial premises which benefit from their added security. Bollards are available installed as a stand-alone product, or as a secondary product installed in front of gates/barriers, providing an extra layer of protection.

Automated Rising Bollards are particularly popular on premises such as banks, jewellers, exhibition hall and other high security premises which require added protection against vehicle ramming.

The bollards we have detailed below are just a small selection of the options available to you, and we will provide a tailored quotation depending on the exact requirements of site, and depending on the bollard location. In addition to the bollards detailed below, we can provide larger and smaller options, and even bollards with an anti-terrorist protection rating.

The sidewinder is the revolutionary sliding bollard designed, manufactured and installed by Frontline Automation. Because the Sidewinder Bollard is manufactured in-house, it can be individually designed to integrate flawlessly with any environment.

The Sidewinder is a fully self-supporting sliding bollard which can be installed either flush or surface mounted. The design of the bollard allows safe pedestrian access at all times. Moving parts are always visible and with a flat anti-slip top surface, trip/trap hazards are reduced to an absolute minimum. The chance of accidental damage or injury is massively reduced, making the sidewinder particularly safe, especially where constant pedestrian access is required.


FINISH: Support Frame – Shot blasted & sprayed with pure hot zinc, sprayed primer and polyester powder coated.
Top Surface – Shot blasted and hot zinc sprayed. Finished with Anti-Slip Coating.
Bollard – Galvanised (Option) with Stainless Steel Cover.

MECHANISM: The Sidewinder 10045 Bollard is driven by a specially designed carriage mechanism with a PLC controlled heavy duty variable speed hydraulic power unit, complete with a manual override valve.

LIMIT SWITCHES: Four HD inductive limit switches are installed to provide open, close and slow down positions as well as signalling for traffic lights and interlock.

CaseStudy: The Sidewinder was initially developed for a specific project. One of our high profile clients needed to increase the security of their underground carpark by installing some form of automated heavy duty security equipment to the entry/exit points behind the automated vehicle barriers. The installation location did not allow for many options such as gates and it seemed a bollard would be the appropriate solution. However, due to rooms below the installation point, we were unable to excavate deep enough to install a standard rising bollard and had to use our experience to develop something which would offer the same level of security without the need for such deep excavations. After a number of site meetings, we were able to develop the ą²«SIDEWINDERą²¬– The sidewinder requires the installation of a metal frame into the ground rather than the entire bollard housing depth, meaning the rooms underneath were not a problem, and in other locations would enable us to install a bollard with less concerns over underground services. We were able to work closely with the client to develop the product into something which would cover every aspect of their requirements, from the appearance to the operation, level of security and installation timeframes.


The Dampy is a complete range of semi-automatic bollards which are operated by a gas spring. Their popularity is mostly attributed to their extremely easy operation to allow road access and also their pricing in comparisson to the fully automatic options. Available with a cataphoresis or stainless steel finish, and with or without luminous cap.

This particular option is for the semi-automatic bollard with a shaft diameter of 220mm and height of 500mm. For such a light bollard, the Impact resistance is an impressive 10000 J.
The pictured bollard is the painted steel version, finished in 7015. The bollard is also available in stainless steel and with or without LED light cap.

The Dampy range vary in size, from diameter as small as 115mm and heights of up to 700mm.




The Stoppy is a complete range of electromechanical retractable bollards. With various options available, they are ideal for areas of particular architectural interest, and guarantee a maximum level of reliability over time. Another benefit of these bollards is the minimal need for maintenance. There are a number of sizes within the range, and all are available in painted or stainless steel finish. STOPPY MBB 219/500 C 230 LC- STOPPY MBB 219/500 C 230 LC

Electromechnical Bollard - Shaft height 500mm, diameter 220mm, and with a total impact resistence of 10500j. Pictured has incorporated lights and buzzer options. Also available in a stainless steel finish.

This bollard can be supplied as an integral unit, or with a seperate outer casing which means we can complete the groundworks required ahead of installation if required.

The bollard has a conical stem cap and EPDM flange gasket, providing a high level of protection against foreign matter entering between the stem and casing, which means the need for maintenance of the product is greatly reduced.

RANCH B 219/500 L- RANCH B 219/500 L

The Ranch range of bollards are fixed bollards used for the permanent closure of entrances. Bolted to the ground, and requiring a much lower level of groundworks, they block vehicle access to roads and offer protection for sensitive sites. They have been designed for easy integration with the Stoppy/Dampy range so that you can combine them with automatic bollards to close a wide roadway at less cost. They have a class 2 type approved reflective adhesive strip, and standard finish is RAL 7015 but as with the others, are available in stainless steel and with or without LED light crown.

A static/fixed bollard for permanent closure of roadways/entrances. Pictured is the standard size of 220 x 500mm but they are available in heights of 700mm. The Ranch B 219/500 L requires only a 178mm deep excavation, reducing time and cost on groundworks in comparrison to their automated counterparts. Can be supplied/installed on their own, or along with the Stoppy/Dampy bollards.


The lockable or key operated post is ideal for reserving individual car parking spaces and can also be used to restrict access to driveways.  Only key holders or people who know the lock code (if combination padlock is used) can release the post from its upright position, the post can also be locked in the down position.

These posts are suitable for installation onto concrete.  If the road surface were tarmac or block paving, an additional concrete pad would be required.
